# Work the pipeline

Keep every deal at its true stage, so the board tells you exactly where to spend today.

The **Pipeline** page shows a column per stage, with the number of companies in each. A card is one company.

## Move a company

Each card has two arrows: **back** moves the company to the previous stage, **forward** to the next. The change is saved at once and your team sees it straight away. Any stage can follow any other, so you can also record a deal that skips ahead or goes cold.

## Read the board

<Step title="Look at the Proposal column first">

These deals are closest to money. Each one should have a follow-up date; if it doesn't, it's waiting on you.

</Step>

<Step title="Then Meeting">

Meetings that ended without a proposal are deals at risk. Send the proposal while the conversation is fresh.

</Step>

<Step title="Then Contacted and Prospect">

Keep these moving: a company that has sat in **Contacted** for weeks either needs another try or belongs in **Lost**.

</Step>

<Note title="Keep it honest">
  The pipeline is only useful if it's true. Move companies when things happen, and mark lost deals as lost instead of leaving them where they were.
</Note>

On **Home**, the pipeline ledger shows how many companies sit at each stage, so you can see at a glance whether your top of funnel is drying up.
