# Win the deal

Turn proposals into closed business, and learn from the ones that got away.

LeadUp doesn't sell for you, but it makes sure no deal slips because it was forgotten. Winning comes from a few habits, repeated.

<Steps>

<Step title="Send the proposal while it's warm">

Move the company to **Proposal** the day you send it, with a follow-up on the date they said they'd decide.

</Step>

<Step title="Follow up until there's an answer">

Work **Tasks** every day, overdue first. A short, specific message ("Did you have a chance to look at the proposal? I can walk you through it on Thursday") beats a generic check-in.

</Step>

<Step title="Mark it won">

When they say yes, move the company to **Won**. It stays in your workspace, with its history, for the next sale to the same customer.

</Step>

<Step title="Mark it lost, and say why to yourself">

When they say no, or stop answering, move it to **Lost**. Look at your lost deals once a month: if they all stall at the same stage, that's the step of your pitch to fix.

</Step>

</Steps>

<Note title="Deal values are coming">
  LeadUp doesn't record a deal's value yet, so it can't add up what you've won. Until it does, the **Won** column is your record of closed business.
