# Connect an agent

Let Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client work your pipeline, with your permission.

LeadUp runs a [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server. Point an MCP client at it and the agent can find, add and move your leads, within the permissions you grant.

## Steps

<Steps>

<Step title="Add the server to your client">

In your client's connector or MCP settings, add a remote server with the URL above. No key is needed: the client signs you in.

</Step>

<Step title="Sign in and choose an organization">

The client opens LeadUp's consent page. Sign in, and if you belong to several organizations, pick the one the agent may work in.

</Step>

<Step title="Choose what the agent may do">

Grant only what it needs: `leads:read` to look things up, `leads:create` to add leads, `leads:update` to move them. You can stay connected, or be asked again later.

</Step>

</Steps>

The client receives a short-lived access token that it renews by itself. To disconnect an agent, remove it in your client; removing a member also removes their agents' access.

See the [tools](/mcp/tools) an agent can call.
